PS exclusives are not the driver of PS systems. 6 million people who bought FF16 aren't the reason why PS5 will sell 120 million consoles. It is the 20 million plus FIFA, COD, etc. owners. It is the fact that majority of casuals dont want to shift to PC gaming since it is so vastly different from console games. Parents who buy their kids consoles aren't automatically going to start making PCs for them. Sony doesn't release their games on PCs day 1 because they don't need to give 30% share of their own games and they don't want to lose the hardcore fanbase which will definitely shift to pc gaming but that core base is small not the majority of 120 million.

 

It is hillarious if anyone thinks that suddenly 75 million plus PS owners will suddenly shift to PC gaming because their exclusives released on PC as well

Large number of Casuals buy gaming hardware after taking advice from Hardcore/knowledgeable gamers around them. They also get influenced by content creators on social media. If casuals will see lot of Hardcore gamers or influencers saying there is no need for console as all games on PC, then casuals might follow suit and build a gaming PC or buy gaming laptop.

 

PC gaming not rocket science anymore and mid grade gaming PC can still outperform console in Performance. My uncle is a casual gamer and he owns a gaming PC powerful than mine. He bought one on my advise. 

 

Point im trying to make here, if Sony starts releasing every AAA first party on PC dayone then slowly slowly you will see drop in hardware sales of PS. Hardcore will move away from console, media will write articles that console not needed as everything is on PC dayone and then big influencers on social will jump on it as well. These people can influence casuals and then your argument about casuals not abandoning consoles will fall flat on its face.

 

Im repeating myself again, Sony is a billion dollar company, they have teams collecting data about it and on based on that data they decided against releasing first or 3rd party AAA banger dayone on PC. Sony is aware that if people start expecting all exclusive on dayone on PC then this narrative will start -"oh there is no need to buy PS, just get a PC and you get everything". They bought Nixes for PC ports but they still not releasing games dayone on PC purposely just to push hardware sales. 

 

Everyone on IVG owns a PC if im not wrong? PC gaming is way more popular and bigger in India than consoles. Every IVG gamer with good gaming PC will not touch his PS5 if upcoming exclusives are available dayone on PC. Hardcore gamers on IVG influence lot of casuals gamers around them iam 100% sure of it.

 

So I will stick with what i said, unless Sony releases their first party games on PC dayone and still sell same amount of consoles globally :).

Look casuals are not some broke people, they got money, they just need advice on what to buy to play their preferred games. If you tell em PC gaming best, they will buy 1000$ gaming PCs. No one is denying that if Sony releases its exclusives on day 1 on PC it will impact it's console sales. But to say it will totally tank the sales is simply wrong . Sales may decrease by 10/20% or worse case 30% but to say it will decrease more than that is just absurd. 

Now yes ofcourse even 10-20% decrease in sales matter to Sony and hence they don't release games day 1 on PC. 

 

Not every IVG gamer here owns a PC ( I don't and I am pretty sure quite a few here don't but not everyone here is regular )

PC buying is still a difficult task for many with regards to what hardware to buy in what budget.  Not to mention a decent gaming PC would still cost double of PS5.For a casual these things are huge turn offs.

If anything you or Sach4life saying was true then Sony would be releasing all games dayone on PC to double their software sales.

 

Again, what stopping Sony? Its hardware sales. PS6 will not hit 50m sales in its lifetime if PS6 games come dayone on PC. I clearly explained, slowly slowly you will see drop in sales every year if PS starts bringing all games at regular basis. Casuals will learn from Hardcore gamers and slowly start moving to PC if everything is on PC dayone. It will not be immediate but it will happen and PS consoles will not hit PS4 level of sales. You cant prove me wrong coz you have nothing to back your logic. My proof is Sony and Nintendo not releasing games dayone to avoid fall in hardware sales.

 

Just one first party AAA game from their top studios i want Sony to release dayone and sell same amount of consoles that month to prove me wrong .

 

If PS brand is so popular then why Sony afraid to go dayone on PC. We can test PS popularity by releasing games dayonr on PC . PS5 install base is quite big now, so PC dayone will not do massive damage to PS5 but i can gurantee you, if PS6 launches with dayone PC release, you will definitely see big fall in sales.

+1. As a casual gamer I prefer XBox over a PC. Easier to fit in with existing room setup than a PC. PC is too complicated a machine for occasional gaming for my usecase.
