I did a rewatch of Dune in anticipation of the sequel. It did not go well lol. I forgot how goddamn slow this movie was. It's way too up in its a*s about the visions. So much [Sad Lamentation Music] going on.

The desert shots were cool

It was a snoozfest to be honest.

I just watched in the background while doing something else & then read the synopsis online.

Let’s see how Dune 2 is.

Saw couple of oscar winning movies, surprised to see that Sony Liv has a decent collection of movies :

 - The Help (Sony Liv): Drama depicting the life of black house maids set around the era of segregation in the Deep South (Mississipi).  I think everyone played their roles to perfection, but I felt the performance of Bryce Dallas Howard (as the main antagonist) eclipsed everybody else's.  I think she deserved it more than Octavia spencer (who won the award for best supp actress eventually).

- Green Book (Sony Liv) : Stars Viggo Mortensen and Mahershrala Ali, I mean what could go wrong ! Again, set around the segregation era, it's apparently inspired by the true story of a black musician who tours the deep south with an Italian bodyguard/driver to protect him.

Watching the above movies, I can understand to some extent on the popular inclusive culture trend thats ongoing in the US (often regarded as woke culture by some) and the intense protests like  the black lives matter movements. I think those guys have suffered a lot through the ages (despite being in a first world country).

Is imax unavailable? You have no choice then right?

IMAX is available but my favorite seats are booked this weekend 🤬

I have an alternative theatre which has solid sound and a large enough normal screen on which I can watch this weekend and then IMAX next weekend @Shreyans Gupta

or should I make my first experience directly next week on the IMAX screen?

I think if you are planning on watching it 2 times on theatre then it’s better to reserve IMAX for 2nd viewing otherwise you may not be able to enjoy the experience.

Movie is almost 3 hours long! 2nd viewing will not have as huge an impact as the first! I would say wait and watch on IMAX. 2nd viewing can be on normal/OTT/Blu-Ray depending on how much you liked the movie. As a bonus - waiting for a couple of days might also reduce the price of tickets!!

We'd been waiting to screen Sam Bahadur for a while now, as we missed it in theatres because of Animal. What a sad little thing this.. thing is. It makes no sense, has no feeling, no progression, no character development, and has inanely useless supporting characters. The score is abysmal, rest of the music isn't much better. With such rich content and Talvaar's director Meghna Gulzar at the helm, I expected a real engrosser. It is so poorly made that it feels more like a home movie or a series of tik-toks spliced together, rather than a cinematic thing.

Vicky Kaushal's performance is completely wasted.

On the plus side, Zee5 on Apple TV uses the tvOS platform UI which was a pleasant surprise. However it defaulted to 2.1 sound so Zee5 does Zee5. Ha!

0.5/5; ugh.

Dune Part 2 is seriously good! I haven't seen anything like it before! I say it as someone who found the first one to be incredibly boring, unmoving and even a bit unoriginal.

Spoiler

The moment at the end where Paul tells the smug Bene Geressit lady to "SILENCE" is so satisfying
