The Playstation 5 thread

Recommended Posts

As this is a massive launch effort, we're rolling out the new PlayStation Plus offering in a phased regional approach. In the June timeframe, we'll begin with an initial launch in several markets in Asia, followed by North America, Europe and the rest of the world where PlayStation Plus is offered. We aim to have most PlayStation Network territories live with our new PlayStation Plus game subscription service by the end of the first half of 2022. We also plan to expand our cloud streaming benefit to additional markets, and will provide more details at a later date.

I am guessing should be same as PS Now catalog with some additional stuff during launch.

PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers will include these games:

Death Stranding
God of War
Marvel’s Spider-Man
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
Mortal Kombat 11
Returnal

Will be able to compete with gamepass.

Not really. No day one games and also the value can be gauged only after the list of available games are released. But one good thing is that the existing PS+ has no price increase.

Overall, I think its pretty good. Over 700 games on launch, Deluxe would probably be around 7-8K per year, that's without the 25% discount they have at least once a year.

Ps now has a pretty crap lineup. Will probably stay that way.

Exactly as I had envisioned it.

Titles like Ratchet&Clank RA,Returnal,Miles Morales,Demon Souls & others will become the backbone of this service just like M$ is having to buy access to third party games 6-12 months post launch.

Those games are actually what ppl make these investments for (hardware + sub) instead of 1 day1 AAA a year & 6-7 junk Day1 titles like what M$ has been offering.

Day1 is overrated even in GamesPass & is definitely not needed on PS unless M$ fulfil their “vision”.

I’m guessing closely partnered third party exclusives/timed exclusives should also show up like:-

FF 7R

Nioh 2

Kena
Sifu

Forspoken

&

Deathloop

Ghostwire

potentially only if M$ don’t block the partnership following it’s takeover.

But yeah big titles showing up anywhere 6-12 months > Scarce/Crap Day1 stuff.

Sounds like a good deal for Digital PS5 owners.

I would still prefer buying/selling discs.

I don’t think their PS2/PSP lineup will be good enough to convince me to buy the Deluxe tier.

Will they include games like Sly 3, Midnight club street racing, Ico, etc? Don’t think so.

It’s plain & simple.

You want great content day1,stick to the original business model.

You ok waiting 6-12 months, subscribe to the service & give your contribution towards the mechanism of AAA factory up & running.

No back doors obviously as it’s something that’s only a desperate measure & to be honest very very unhealthy for the industry in all fairness.

Any idea what happens to existing subscription?

There will be an upgrade path I assume.
Which in all fairness will cost more than $1.
