Rumor thread and discussion

I don’t think Google & Amazon is showing even slightest interest in the gaming space as it was predicted they would.

It’s all Sony Vs M$ Vs Steam Vs Nintendo.

The western videogame industry is in shambles. First Bethesda, then Activision Blizzard and now Ubisoft. All of them have not released a mega hit for years and having development issues for years.

Same goes for other western studios like Warner Bros and Microsoft.

I don’t think M$ is at fault here, they found an opportunity & they took it.

If these Publishing houses were doing good they wouldn’t have sold it to begin with.

And by not doing good I don’t mean selling like hot cakes or making money, that they obviously were but in the larger picture it was a downwards trend for them…their market value would have gone just downwards from here so it was right time for stake holders to cash it in.

As for changing the landscape of gaming, that obviously will happen & it would have happened & was happening anyway.
We as gamers were getting nothing really good out of it…..same stale & deteriorating state of games no matter where you look for it(Except Sony & Nintendo obviously).

EA,UBI,2K be it anybody left are/were just churning out bullshit after another.
Acti-Bliz & Bathesda were on the same lines.

DeadSpace dead

Mass Effect dead

Dragon Age Dead

COD as good as dead (except MW reboot)

Fallout dead(after 76)

Assassin’s Creed dead (Atleast creatively) & same with Watchdogs.

& the most disturbing fact of all is what became of our beloved GTA.

These companies have struck a creative dead end & obviously can’t think beyond their safe & stale bets because of the risk & cost of those risks in AAA gaming involved today.

It’s a twilight indeed & it had to go one way or another.

Keep them coming

It's becoming sad at this point. Even the studios they acquired in 2018 have not yet put out any major games.

There is a mela every time a new acquisition is made, major fanboy wars for weeks afterwards, and then the hype dies down. No games, unless it was already in development and announced before acquisition, and no news unless the studio is in controversy (a.k.a Acti-Blizz). I wonder what happened to Avowed and Fable. I was looking forward to those.

If the licensing fee of DC & Harry Porter franchises are just too high that making exclusive doesn’t even make sense (like MLB) then I don’t think Sony would be interested.

Or maybe they would just to keep it multiplatform & out of M$ hands who would most certainly use GamesPass advantage if not outright exclusive.

Things are really really one sided lately with every other publisher dying a creative death & M$ suddenly not worried about making money.

Established ip wont be exclusive ,then only the acquisition will go through i think.

Only New original content will be exclusive.

Edit : bethesda ips dont count in this beacuse it was an unprecedented acquisition ,but with ABK and future acquisitions  FTC will ensure that .

Lol yeah expecting any of the WB studios to come up with original content is like expecting North Korea to come up with an effective vaccine of its own.

For years they have done nothing but make DC,Lord Of the Rings,Mad Max or Harry Potter games.

It only makes sense for M$ as right now it only wants content for GamesPass & not Money.

Sony will invest only to block that from happening.

With every other major publishing house entering a creative roadblock & losing sales all Sony can do is linger on its market share for as long as possible.

Google’s & Amazon’s lack of interest beyond the initial cloud portal investment is also not a good sign.

Gaming industry could be heading towards a slump & M$ is best positioned to capitalise on it.

My guess is sony will buy them ,Ms have to sit this one out till ABK deal.

tbh, I’d rather see Sony try to buy SE, Capcom, etc

Sony working inclusively since the start of PS3 gen is sort of coming to haunt them at this stage.

They didn’t have any foresight of what would become of their business if major Japanese & Western publishers like SE,Konami,Sega,Capcom,Actiblizzard,Bathesda,WB,UBi would dry up one day.

Specially when there was a player like M$ around with the cost absorption capacity that it has.
