Insomniac Games Hacked By a Ransomware Attack, Data Surrounding Marvel’s Wolverine Surfaces Online

Insomniac Games, the famous studio behind the highly successful Marvel's Spider-Man franchise and many other titles, has been reportedly hacked by the Ransomware operator Rhysida.

The attack isn't just a simple one since the group behind it has released some of the company's "confidential" data, including screenshots of the studio's upcoming title, Marvel's Wolverine, discloses character art allegedly made for the game. Moreover, the personal information of the studio's employees, including both current and former staff, has also been leaked online. The voice actor behind Marvel's Spider-Man Peter Parker, Yuri Lowenthal, has also seen a data breach in the ransomware attack performed by the group Rhysida.

They’re giving Insomniac 7 days to pay them $2M before releasing it all

Quite unfortunate.

But it was right of them to not give into the hackers demands.

Bunch of pre-polish footage doesn’t do sh*t.

Also hope the hackers get caught & punished.

Xmen after Wolverine makes good sense but just hoping it’ll not Multiplayer GaaS like Gotham Knights,Avengers & Suicide Squad.

Don't know if we are allowed to post but a slide shows Sony and Marvel Agreement and terms of the said agreement.

Basically Sony has exclusive right for X-Men games including the term that no other studio can do X-Men games till 2035-36.

If insomniac nail wolverine like that nailed spiderman ,it will be the leading studio even ahead of ND for me.

Its not easy hitting a home run with so many fan’s expectations and also since wolverine is a tough character to make a video game on (less versatile).

Very unfortunate. It is one thing for the gameplay to leak but this is script/concept/chars. and also personal info.

And it is sad that it has happened so early in the game development and also the roadmap has leaked. How can we avoid the spoilers and other details for many more years to come.

paying would mean that more will try this to get a payday, plus there’s no guarantee they’ll not release it anyway after getting the ransom

sh*t like this makes the employees feel super demoralised + unsafe. It's super f**ked.

Imo there's no fun in even looking at the leaks which are in pre alpha state. Insomniac might even change the story now.

Nobody wins in this situation.

Leak of the whole timeline of games that Insomniac planned is even more f**ked up. It would have been such a mike drop to announce those games at some game show but now that thunder is gone. Seriously.
