^ Did not save Hardline. Doubt it will make a difference in this game.

This is Star Wars made by DICE

That was BF4.5 made by Visceral :P

Just the SW branding will make it sell like hotcakes

^ You missed the point.

This is not about the game but the number of players per platform.

Also, for all the problems with Hardline, the game at-least functions out of the box unlike BattleField 4 which was a hot janky mess till almost a year after.

It is just that for the latter's pitfalls and the way Hardline was developed that the albatross is being hung across Visceral's neck. And this is not the first time they are getting the short end of the stick.

The subscription as a whole is ok I don't have a problem with that

Ppl who find value in paying $30 a year to play FIFA & BF when next iterations are out, good for them

But this sorta BS should be left alone

If I don't find the need to have that sub why should I look like a fool playing with ppl in lobby who have 10 hrs. head-start over me

Pretty idiotic thing

Well you can buy a monthly sub and get 10% discount on the game as well along with the head start.

I think you end up saving 1 or 2$ also in the process, even if you dont its a win win situation.

X-Wings. I hope the flight model is appropriate and not the cardboard frizbee style flight model that was in BattleField 4.

Horrible.

More details:

The new iteration of "Battlefront" takes place amid the conflicts of the original film trilogy and is scheduled for release Nov. 17 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

"Battlefront" will focus on frenzied shoot-outs between up to 40 players portraying Rebel Alliance and Galactic Empire forces. In a demonstration of the game's multiplayer mode, a team of jetpack-equipped rebels were shown carving their way through the woodsy Endor while Stormtroopers charged at them on foot, on speeders and within walkers, including a hulking AT-AT war machine.

The game will reward sharpshooters with the ability to embody such iconic characters as bounty hunter Boba Fett and Sith baddie Darth Vader on the battlefield.

"You can storm in as the Dark Lord himself," said "Battlefront" design director Niklas Fegraeus. "You can wield a lightsaber. You can Force choke the rebel scum, which is fun. Basically, you are the boss of the battle. This means that you, as Vader, can lead your team to victory — if you play well."

"We wanted it to feel authentic to this universe," said "Battlefront" executive producer Patrick Bach. "You can get into these vehicles, from speeder bikes to X-wings, TIE fighters, AT-STs, AT-ATs. There's a wide range of vehicles that we wanted to realize. The difficulty with a game is that they need to be balanced with the troops on the ground."

"Battlefront" will also include a free downloadable level available two weeks before "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" opens in theaters Dec. 18. It's set on Jakku, the battle-scarred desert planet glimpsed in "Force Awakens" teasers. The expansion, dubbed "Battle of Jakku," will explore the moment following "Return of the Jedi" when the New Republic confronted Imperial holdouts on the previously unseen Outer Rim enclave.

Star Wars: Battlefront: An Impressive First Look At Star Wars: Battlefront

The Modes

What we saw was a 40-player mode called Walker Assault, which we can only speculate will be used for other maps like Hoth and Tatooine. Fegraeus says that Battlefront is first and foremost a multiplayer game, but it also caters to people who don't want to play with others or be connected to the internet.

While Fegraeus wouldn't go into into multiplayer specifics, he did say that two players can play cooperatively through splitscreen, a feature we didn't expect to see. While playing online, two players who want to team up as much as possible can tap into a Partner feature, which allows them to share gear (an experienced player can bestow a newcomer with a high-tech load out during their play session), spawn at their teammates location after death, and be on the battlefield together as much as possible.

The single player component of the game is called Battlefront Missions, and while few details were given, it sounds like it will be the same battles from the multiplayer experience with different missions layered in.

The Early Verdict

The demo DICE delivered is beautiful and true to the Star Wars experience that unfolds on the silver screen. The gunplay is immediately recognizable as Battlefield – quick, powerful, and heavily focused on team play. The gameplay flow, however, almost looked like a scripted, linear, single-player level. We'll have to see how it holds up when people take off in different directions through the forest. The demo covered plenty of real-estate on Endor, but it was difficult to make out how big the map actually was. The pacing appears to hold true to the Battlefront games of old, especially in the "boss" encounters against an AT-ST, AT-AT, and Darth Vader.

IGN preview:

Even though the announcement focusses principally on what will no doubt be the core of Battlefront – those epic fantasy battles – some details were also released about Special Missions, which are single-player or co-op (local or online) scenarios and kind of fill the space of a traditional campaign mode. Unfortunately no specifics examples were given, but they sound a bit like Spec Op missions from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and 3, which were built around small, distinct tasks, with ties to the original films in mind.

There are four locations in the game at launch: Tatooine, Hoth, Endor, and Sullust, the last of which has barely been seen before, and DICE is working with Lucasfilm to define the canonical look of this planet. "You saw the Sullust scene in the trailer," Bach tells me. "That kind of doesn’t exist for Lucasfilm. But where we know that’s the planet where you build the evil gear. That’s where the Empire builds AT-ATs. That’s f***ing awesome.
