The TV Decision Making Thread

This new LG software is absolutely putrid, no idea why they took away PIP functionality of toggling through apps. Now it goes to their home screen and it takes ages to load.

Terrible.

Yep. I'm not updating my CX. Screw you, LG! I loved the half-screen OS thing. Hate the full-screen home menu.

Bros, I am looking to buy a TV - either Samsung QN90B 50 inch or LG C2 48/55 inch

One difference I understand is that QN90B has blooming in challenging situations like starry skies or fireworks in a night sky but has much brighter panel and brighter colors where daytime scenes look superior

while C2 has deeper colors, deep blacks but lower brightness and thus weaker in daytime scenes and bright rooms

any other differences in specs or reliability for example? has any evaluated QN90B vs C2 and what was your conclusion?

what would be your overall suggestion considering all factors? Thanks in advance

C2. Will offer enough brightness.

No comparison between OLED and non-OLED.

Also why 48/50"? These TVs look smaller than a similar sized LED, get atleast 55.

I want a temporary TV for ~1 to 1.5 years

After that, once I have clarity about where I’ll be staying for at least 3 years, I’ll look to get a 65” TV

So my sony TV (X90H) has developed black cloudy patches on few places and it is growing. I had a technician visit and he quoted 43K as the cost of panel replacement. Is it really worth it or should i just suck it up and buy a new tv?

P.S: this i just a 2 and half year old tv. Sony's quality has really gone down the drain. My previous chinese tv lasted 5 years without issues before I sold it.

Damn, have the same TV, no issues though till now.
Spending almost 50% of the TV price, is a no go, things will keep going bad. Look for an OLED.

I remember you also buying it almost around the same time as me. discussion in this thread was between x90h vs C2 and x90h was best vfm at that moment. It served me well for last few years but now I'm contemplating A80J and LG C2 as they are priced similarly.

Yeah. Paying 45k for 90k TV, absolutely no. A80J and C2 are quite similar in performance.

Sony has surely gone downhill, my brother had a brand store , now switched to multi brand because for the price sony did not offer quality and longetivity

C2 eyes closed, but don't go for 48, whichever upgrades they have given over C1, they are well felt on 55 n above, i saw 55" at Vijay Sales n got 48" (as that was the requirement) audio output was an instant disappointment compared to the larger unit. For gaming, i use headphones, but rest of content consumption is on TV speakers, they get loud, but the surround effect that i felt there on 55" was surprisingly null on 48", but u can slap an external audio output to compromise that.

These offers come and go.

I am sure he'll be able to get one for close to 1-1.1L

Only issue is that banks including HDFC have started charging a foreclosure fee.

Every abrupt with it, mileage may vary but one won't get to know unless they actually buy the TV on EMI.
