This is true.

Old MS would just release unfinished game which people would sing about for years.

MS under Phil Spencer understands what makes games great.

Another lie. They still release unfinished games.

Example: Halo Infinite.

GAAS title.

They tend to have too much content in a year or two.

Infinite is on same path.

XsX was the first console in history to have zero launch titles.

Spender has spent almost $80 billion on giant publishers and studios.

Yet here we are in 2022 and all Xbox fans and ?s are left with is Forza, Halo, and an entire calendar year without games. Tragic.

It was too late.
He was sleeping for too long & practically speaking Bethesda & Actiblizzard hadn’t fumbled in one department or the other, earlier in timeline.

It’s only when he got possibilities he encashed.

Things M$ had started building in 2017 still haven’t shown any fruitful results.

I think engineering hardcore SP titles like Starfield for GP is a complicated thing in itself.

Starfield is no psychonauts 2. They must have spent millions on this already. Wonder how they plan to put it day one on the service.

Most on this forum did not buy the shoebox series x for any fancy launch titles.

They bought it because langar.

They spent the last gen getting slapped by Sony both in terms of hardware, pricing for a time( $500 xbone with kinect bundled, no other option ) and games, with gp langar atleast they have a fighting chance lol

Saddest part. They are not disappointed for the lack of quality first party titles.

They are still satisfied as they are getting 2-3 years old non first party titles on the service.

And thanks to such expectations, Spender gets a free pass everytime.

It’s just a ploy to give dates that will never be met and have people extend their gamepass subscriptions only to realise their end dates are before the actual release of the game

Fraud

sony did the same with God of war and horizon 2021  release dates :giggle:

But I didn’t BUY a subscription for it. I paid for it when it came out. This is unlike the subscription model where let’s say, you renewed till end 2022 hoping to play starfail only to realise it’s not gonna happen.

Do you understand the difference?

Why would anyone buy into a subscription model just so they can play one game? I'm sure whoever is getting into GP is doing so for Starfield + all the others games that have already hit GP.

Im not sure if you understand how fraudulent this is. the selling point of the game pass which was highlighted by Xbox marketing was atleast one exclusive Xbox game per quarter. Further, Xbox had actually gone ahead and specified a release date for Starfield. It would have definitely lured a % of consumers to sign up and/or extend.   Let’s not try and couch it

Ca/MBA finance etc should take a look at this. Actual numbers.

Nope made up numbers.  A prime example is posted in the replies itself to the tweet.

MS paid 5-10 mil for Gotg .

No way it paid 20 mil per game for 100 Current third party games when they paid 10 mil for one of the top AAA games . Don't think MS even has 100 CURRENT third party titles .

His other facts - 5 mil for 100 BC games first party (those owned by MS themselves) yeah right

10 Mil for 200 third party BC games - Gamepass doesn't even that many games third party games and is paying 10 mil each :P.

Cost for 3 AAA games 240 Mil and NEW Indie games - 5 mil per game are believable .

But the rest of them are pure BS .

Including revenue from Subscriptions itself - No way all 25 mil are paying 180$ a year :P . Actual number (those paying full amount) could be anything - might be as low as 10% or as high as 70% .

Unless MS themselves share actual revenue from Subscriptions there's no way to know .

And this Analysis is incomplete and biased . This doesn't take into out sales of games ( yes people still buy Xbox/MS games - Radical himself paid full price for Halo :P)

It leaves out the major source of revenue - MTx and DLC packs  which make up a third of the total revenue for MS and Sony alike. All these are an indirect result of Gamepass .

Don't challenge finance folks with incomplete analysis ..

Also to Ank - Even the guy  who made this analysis ( highly biased)  didn't include money spent on acquisitions in Income/Loss - only counted expenses towards development and royalty fees . So yeah don't Asset building ki baatein to kar hi mat makes you look like a fool.
