I thought it was a known fact that the PS5 will support standard SSDs (available from the market, non-proprietary). Pretty sure Cerny had spoken about it during the "Road to PS5" talk.

It was but lot of FUD was being spread all around because sony didn't explicitly show it. Same with BC and new UI (UX).

maybe at the end of this month. But i am looking for Cyberpunkesque

next gen upgrade not backwards compatibility

cyberpunk has been delayed just to accomodate those next gen consoles and tlou2 was a last push for ps4 so theres the difference... i hopw whatever we get should be free and not be charged for next gen upgrades..

Damn, apart for how huge it is that PS5 internals look beaut. So much easier to open up and clean the fans & fans after a few years of gaming.

Also support for non proprietary expandable storage doesn't make the smaller storage seem like that big of a deal anymore.

Next gen games will work off this Expandable storage or will it copy to internal SSD ?

Minimum 15k in India at least in the initial years. They said they support all sizes of SSDs not all SSDs. Those super fast SSDs won't be cheap.

That was a very well-made teardown video, BTW. The wife (who doesn't have a lot of technical knowledge of these things) was watching it and was impressed with the way he was showing every part of the machine so carefully and properly.

Also, LOL at that silly Xbox-fan-twitter-account trying to mock the 'SSD Upgrade process' in that tweet. That's desperate.

A few thoughts:

- It doesn't look as bad when laid out horizontally.

- Probably my favourite features are:

• Removable Covers, and

• The space for Dust Collection.

Cannot wait to swap out the fugly white with proper stealthy matte black covers.

The one required by PS5 will be 15k-20k at least for now. Good thing is you're not forced to buy 1TB if you absolutely have to now. Get smaller one now, and when its cheaper get a big one and put that small one in your PC.

This will not work with ps5. 2.2 gb/s doesn't cut it. The required spec is like 6 gb/s or something. PS5 will straight up not accept these slower SSDs.

it will work you just wont get optimum results the workaround will be to swap files between system storage and external..

and at 2.2 gb/s transfer speeds thats like 2 minutes to copy paste..!

Ya you are right, these SSDs will not be supported by the PS5. The faster ones are not easily available online and will certainly be very expensive.
